My Background

I have years of experience working with business and estate planning clients. It is my privilege to assist clients in their efforts to start and maintain successful businesses and protect their families and loved ones through appropriate estate planning.

I grew up in a small town in upstate New York where I learned the value of community and strong relationships.  I graduated from the State University of New York College at Cortland with a Bachelor of Arts in French and International Studies with a concentration in Economics and a Minor in German. I earned a Master of Arts in International Relations from Boston University. I graduated from the University at Buffalo Law School of the State University of New York and am licensed to practice law in both New York and Texas. I am also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Federal District Courts for the Western, Southern, Northern, and Eastern Districts of Texas.

Before practicing in the areas of business law and estate planning, I practiced in the area of civil litigation and, before that, as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas in the Postconviction Litigation Division.  My litigation background taught me all about what can go wrong if clients do not plan properly and do not make good decisions. I moved away from litigation and transitioned into helping people start and maintain their businesses and get their estate planning in order.  The ability to see how things could go wrong helps me help my clients plan ahead and strategize to avoid litigation and other potential problems.

Memberships & Volunteer Work

My professional memberships include the State Bar of Texas, the New York State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the College of the State Bar of Texas, the Austin Bar Association, the Bar Association of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the American Bar Association Advisory Panel, and the Travis County Women Lawyers Association.

I am a co-chair of the Animal Welfare Committee of the Austin Bar Association. I am also a Member of the Community Leadership Board of the American Diabetes Association Central Texas Office and the Chair of the Community Outreach Committee.

I am fluent in French and am currently working hard to become proficient in Spanish. 

I have volunteered my legal services with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, the Lawyer Referral Service of Central Texas, and American Gateways, formerly known as the Political Asylum Project in Austin.

In the past, I have provided a volunteer pet foster home for Operation Noble Foster, an organization that provides foster homes for pets of deployed military personnel.

In the past, I also  "adopted" two soldiers serving in Iraq through "A Soldier's Wish List"- a nonprofit organization that sends some of the comforts of home to deployed military members.
